The Cobra is often found in temples next to the Lingam, around Shiva's neck in the form of Vasuki, or carrying lord Vishnu as AdiShesha. 
 
Here the Naga is holding Agni (fire), either in the form of Diya, or you can also use a tealight/larger candle.
